Sale price and energy performance

Energy performance is a major item of negotiation.

Required for all real estate sales or rentals, the energy performance assessment is on the verge of becoming an item of negotiation. Up until recently, it was often provided at the last minute. The convention signed on 19 May 2008 by the Minister of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Jean-Louis Borloo, and real estate professionals concerning including energy performance on real estate listings will slowly but surely change the way people behave.

Increase or decrease in value

The future owner or tenant will know earlier on whether his/her home is energy-efficient or energy intensive. Thanks to CO2 emissions indications, he/she will be aware of the impact his/her energy consumption has on the environment. At a time when energy costs continue to rise, insulation and heating are becoming genuine factors in the real estate transaction.
